MYERS AT A GLANCE

In 1930 veterinarian Dr. Floyd Myers opened the doors of his first service station in downtown Gladwin.  He treated his animals next door and also served as Mayor and Gladwin County Sheriff.  From the mid 1930’s to 1978, Mr. Ralph Myers operated and made several changes to the station, which included selling Sunoco gasoline in 1932, installing the first hydraulic lift in Gladwin County and in 1942 he began selling Firestone tires. During the 1950’s he added an additional Firestone Home and Appliance store as well as gas station on Main Street. Yet, another change was made in the 1960’s when 3 service bays were added and a drive-through car wash.  With another addition in the 1970’s, Myers became the first pipe bender in the county and one of the first Maxi-Muffler dealer, which allowed them to start servicing mufflers. In 1978,  Mr. Joe Myers (Grandson of Dr. Floyd Myers)  began running the family business. During 1984 Myers became full line Auto Value parts store. Joe has since relocated the business to its current location.  Myers, currently employs 20 full and part-time employees.  In 2004, an additional 2 service bays were added for a total of 11 bays with all the current technical equipment to service your vehicle.  In 2005 Myers for Tires celebrated 75 years of service to the Mid Michigan area.  Each year is a challenge in the automotive business and we try to meet our customer’s needs and requests. During 2005 a new  line of Performance and Accessories were added for your special vehicle, with specialty catalogs available. The beginning of 2008 brought the long awaited 3000 square foot addition to the showroom. A new parts and service counter, customer lounge and additional parking area.  Additional inventory was also added. Stop by and visit our showroom.
